39 weeks and counting

Happy New Year!

Well, today marks 1 week until the due date! My OB already scheduled the induction if she is not here by the 15th for Saturday the 16th. It looks like she will be here by next Sunday for sure! Everything is looking good though. We had an ultrasound yesterday and she is head down, facing the right way, fluid levels look good, cord is not wrapped anywhere, and the tech said she could come out any time. She also said that it looks like I have a little "chunker" inside...haha. That must come from momma. She is measuring 8 lbs 3 oz (+ or - a pound) already so I think she is definitely ready and has cooked long enough! We are getting so excited and the anticipation of it all is just ridiculous. The baby laundry is done and everything is all ready to go. So now it is just a matter of waiting...

But, we have done a great job of distracting ourselves. Chad and I took some of our wedding money and bought a new king-size mattress and a bedroom suite. We are finally grown-ups! I kept thinking Sophie couldn't have a better looking room than us :) So, our bedroom now looks amazing...it's like being at a hotel or something. We've spent lots of time cleaning and putting all the extra stuff we've accumulated away but at least that is getting done before the baby arrives as well. I'll try and put some pictures up of our new purchase soon.

December showers bring January babies

First let me start off with my 34 week baby bump picture (taken 2 weeks ago)!

The belly is getting pretty big and now I can't believe the due date is exactly 1 month away as today marks 36 weeks!
The baby shower was on December 5th and it was a wonderful time!! I was so happy to see my friends and family who could make it to the party and I couldn't believe all the great gifts I got for Sophie. It was just so perfect! She now has plenty of pretty pink clothes and blankets and all sorts of things to play with. Plus, I got lots of useful items and things for mommy to use too. I can't wait for her to get here so we can start using everything! My sister-in-law made a diaper cake which turned out to be the neatest thing. What a great idea for a baby shower! For anyone who needs a great idea...check out this picture...it's adorable:

Also, I have the nursery looking better and better now. All the goodies are in their place and ready to be used. Here are a couple updated photos:

I have my 36 week doctor appointment tomorrow and then I start going weekly to check in and see how things are progressing. So, hopefully I'll have more updates soon. I guess this is all for now!

Nursery (in progress...)

I wanted to post some pictures of Sophia's nursery that is still a work in progress. The crib, changing table, glider, and bookshelf are ready although we are still deciding on the right places for everything. The pictures I made to match the bedding are framed and are sitting on the bookshelf waiting to be hung...we just haven't gotten around to it. There is still plenty to add to the room. It's getting there though! A pretty pink room for a pretty little girl! :)

33 1/2 week appointment update!

So we went in for another ultrasound yesterday as our little girl had been measuring big the last 2 appointments. Everything looked great though! Fluid levels are good and she is weighing 5 lbs 4 oz! They said that was only a teeny bit bigger than average and that she is really only measuring about a week ahead not the two that the doctor had been measuring on my big ol' belly. Hopefully she won't have any big growth spurts, though :) It's starting to look a little cramped in there already! Good news is that she is head down now, which I think I've known for a little bit since that's where I can feel most of her hiccuping :) Let's just hope she stays that way and she's preparing to arrive sooner than later! The OB said by now most babies stay where they are at, so fingers are crossed.
I am posting some of the ultrasound pictures here, although they didn't turn out as good as the last ones we had. I think the ultrasound tech was bored with cute baby pictures so she decided to be humorous and print out lots of weird ones with with her mouth open and tongue sticking out. I also think it looks like she has big puffy angelina jolie baby lips...we're not sure where that's coming from :) With every view of her, though, we just get more and more excited to meet her.

Welcome Olivia Rose Beck (and some updates...)

What an exciting week it has been!! First, and most important, my first niece Olivia Rose was born on Friday at 3:59 p.m. weighing 9 lbs 4 oz. She is just the most adorable baby and I just hope that we have as healthy and beautiful of a little girl. I am so happy for Melissa and Brian! I can't wait to go over to their house to visit and get lots of practice holding her, maybe change a diaper... :)

In other baby news, we start our first childbirth class tonight! I am pretty excited and anxious to be a little more informed. So, for the next 4 Wednesdays we will hopefully learn the ins and outs of what to expect so we can be slightly more prepared. I know people say they just "winged it" but I just don't think I can do that. Hopefully we will learn a lot!

Also, I found out on Thursday that I had failed the 1 hour glucose screen that tests for gestational diabetes. It was the most miserable feeling in the world. They, of course, scheduled another test so I went in during the day on Friday (while we were at the hospital waiting for Olivia anyways) and had to do the 3 hour glucose screen. Talk about torture! Fasting for 12 hours, then chugging liquid sugar, and getting blood drawn every 3 hours was enough to make me ill. And I have a pretty good tolerance for things like that! Anyways, I just found out yesterday that the test results came back and my numbers were great and I don't have to worry about the diabetes thing!! HOORAY!! It was definitely the best thing to hear. I am so relieved now...phew. I just continue to hope and pray for a smooth pregnancy for these last 8 weeks.

So, enough about me...back to a couple of pictures of the newest cutest baby girl in the family:

Then Comes a Baby...

While I am in the uploading photos mood, I wanted to post Sophia Marie's first pictures...ultrasound pictures, of course! But I think she was definitely smiling for the camera...if she takes after her mother that is! This first picture is of Sophie at 11 weeks (you can click each picture to enlarge)...

And these are her cute little profile pics taken at 20 weeks when we found out she was a girl! (Or at least when the ultrasound tech told us it was a girl...Hey, I've heard of birth day surprises!)

And here is her little arm and hand

And her smiling glamour shot (yes, it's kind of creepy, but I still think it looks like she's got a big ol' smile on her face! Say Cheese!)

First Comes Love...

I've been a married woman for 2 months! Still seems surreal! I know by now that everyone has seen lots of my wedding pictures. Anyways, I'd like to repost a few of my favorites for any newcomers who have not and for my future self when I look back through all these wonderful posts... You can never be too tired of your own wedding pictures, right?
